Local Music-Inspired T-Shirt

"Wonderloo"
I’m not a creator of music, but I am an experienced and passionate listener. With the press of a button, I can tumble down the rabbit hole—leaving reality behind and landing somewhere entirely new. Music, for me, is a doorway to other worlds: a way to visit distant cities, forgotten memories, or imagined places far from the noise of everyday life.

My inspiration came from A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat, a pointillist masterpiece that captures Parisians idling in the sun, each dot of colour contributing to a calm and dreamlike whole. The scene has always reminded me of the island at Victoria Park in Kitchener, where—before COVID—you could find the community gathered together in much the same way, suspended in a quiet moment of shared peace.

The music in my composition is played by a man I’ve named Frank, who rides a bicycle through this imagined landscape. He represents the unique and gifted local musicians of KW, as well as the artist behind the song that brings me calm during anxiety—“Biking” by Frank Ocean. Much like Alice wandering through Wonderland, Frank drifts through this surreal soundscape, bridging the boundary between the real and the unreal, the seen and the felt.
